Identification of S-Allele Based Self-incompatibility of Turkish Pear Gene Resources

چکیده
Self-incompatibility is considered to be a growth limiting factor in fruit plants. In species with hermaphrodite flowers, S-locus (S-allele) has been accepted control self-incompatibility, and the genetic of this locus provided by multiple genes (alleles). Pear (Pyrus communis L.) belongs Pomoideae from Rosaceae family found have great potential terms ecological features Turkey. To protect these cultivation features, national garden collections established across country Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute – Yalova collection as bank. Identification different (fruit quality, stress tolerance, grafting incompatibility etc.) importance for its utilization pear breeding cultivation. However, our knowledge, not scanned self-incompatibility trait. current study, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)-based amplification S-allele regions causing genotypes obtained gene bank was investigated molecular biological methods based on comparison amplified products. The findings research will enable classification materials analyzed material likely used studies well

Identification of Self- incompatibility Alleles in Some Almond Genotypes by Degenerate S-RNase Primers
The almond, Prunus dulcis Miller which belongs to Rosaceae family, is one of the most important commercial and oldest cultivated tree nut crops. Almonds are classified as a ‘nut’ in which the edible seed is the commercial product. Therefore, pollination and fertilization are necessary in almond. The characteristic of cultivated almond to express gametophytic self- incompatibility discourages se...
متن کاملS-genotype identification based on allele-specific PCR in Japanese pear
Gametophytic self-incompatibility in Japanese pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) is controlled by the single, multi-allelic S-locus. Information about the S-genotypes is important for breeding and the selection of pollen donors for fruit production. Rapid and reliable S-genotype identification system is necessary for efficient breeding of new cultivars in Japanese pear. We designed S allele-specific ...
متن کاملS-RNase-mediated self-incompatibility.
The Solanaceae, Rosaceae, and Scrophulariaceae families all possess an RNase-mediated self-incompatibility mechanism through which their pistils can recognize and reject self-pollen to prevent inbreeding. The highly polymorphic S-locus controls the self-incompatibility interaction, and the S-locus of the Solanaceae has been shown to be a multi-gene complex in excess of 1.3 Mb. To date, the func...
متن کاملSelf-incompatibility (S) locus region of the mutated S6-haplotype of sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) contains a functional pollen S allele and a non-functional pistil S allele.
This study characterizes the S6m-haplotype, a mutated S6-haplotype with an altered HindIII cut site, of sour cherry (Prunus cerasus). Inheritance and pollination studies of S-haplotypes from reciprocal crosses between 'Erdi Botermo' (EB; S4S6mSa) and 'Rheinische Schattenmorelle' (RS; S6SaSbSc) revealed that the S6m-haplotype conferred unilateral incompatibility with a non-functional pistil comp...
متن کاملGene duplication and genetic exchange drive the evolution of S-RNase-based self-incompatibility in Petunia.
Self-incompatibility (SI) systems in flowering plants distinguish self- and non-self pollen to prevent inbreeding. While other SI systems rely on the self-recognition between specific male- and female-determinants, the Solanaceae family has a non-self recognition system resulting in the detoxification of female-determinants of S-ribonucleases (S-RNases), expressed in pistils, by multiple male-d...
